Actually is an adverb, un avverbio, e cioè una parola che rinforza il verbo that means, significa:

1) and only 1) as an actual or existing fact; really. Di un fatto che esiste, in realtà, sì, in realtà!

Andiamo a vedere the adjective “actual”. Let’s go deeper!

Actual, attuale? Negativo!

The adjective “actual” means:

1) existing in act or fact; real: an actual case of heroism; un vero caso di eroismo. Sì, vero, reale, concreto;

2) existing now; present; current:

The ship's actual position is 22 miles due east of Miami.

Per la miseria, ma qui allora vuol dire davvero attuale! Corrente! La posizione attuale della nave è a 22 miglia da Miami, capitano! Eh, lo so, ma nell’inglese corrente, current English, suona male, nell’inglese attuale, che è anche  actual, perché è vero e reale, diremmo current, e quindi the adverb currently. So I’m currently not available, non sono disponibile in questo momento, cara mia!

Certo che questo inglese ci mette in confusione, is that right?

And what about the origin. E l’origine?

It dates back to a cavallo tra il Dugento e il Trecento: Late Latin āctuālis, che deriva da action noun āctus, act noun, atto, sostantivo: anything done, being done, or to be done; performance:

Devo dire che però qui stiamo andando alla deriva, actually, in verità e pure currently, attualmente.
